Where Archive Begins

An archive is not a storage place. It’s a living record of what was worth keeping, added to over time by the things that proved themselves through use. That distinction matters to us, and it's the idea the whole brand is built around.

We’re not making things to admire for a season or replace when the next version arrives. We’re making footwear and leather goods crafted to last a lifetime. Pieces designed to be carried, worn in, and eventually passed on - becoming more personal, with the marks of a life lived in them, and are better for it. Forget cookie-cutter perfection, we’re seeking patina, creases, and scuffs that tell the story.

This commitment to the craft, to restoring a quality not seen in the mass market, is a decision that most brands aren’t willing to make. For us, it’s everything. It means working with makers who have spent decades perfecting their craft. Smaller runs, more intentional production timelines, materials meticulously selected for how they’ll age. It means building in Canada, even when that’s the harder path, because the output and the proximity to the work is the whole point.

Where it started

Archive began with a question we kept coming back to: why is it so hard to find something well made that you would actually want to keep for twenty years? That question sat beneath everything for us. It shaped the materials, the questions of scale, the people involved, and the pace we were willing to work at. It also shaped the decision to build here, in Canada.

There was an earlier chapter to this story, one that began with the brand called Love Jules Leather. In an era that was dominated by fast fashion, LJL proved there were people that still believed in the art of the craft - ones that appreciated high quality pieces, made locally, intended to be lived with long enough that they became personal. As former customers of Love Jules Leather, we’re proud to partner with Jules Symons to shape the next era of heirloom-quality, Canadian-made goods. Here, we’ve sharpened the framework, strengthened the supply chain, and developed a unique point of view. Archive Leather Goods is the next chapter.

What the name holds

The name was chosen carefully. To us, an archive is made of boots that pick up creases and miles. Bags that travel hard and hold their shape. Leather that softens, deepens, and tells the truth about how it has been used.

That idea sits at the center of the brand. It informs the leather we choose, the workshops we work with, and the way each piece is built in small runs across Vancouver, Toronto, and Montreal.

Why Canada

Canada is not the obvious place to build a serious footwear and leather goods brand in 2026. The skill is here, but it’s harder to access and the work asks more of everyone involved. We chose that path anyway, not because it is romantic, but because we believe it leads to better products.

Building domestically keeps us closer to the makers, closer to the decisions, and closer to the standard we demand. When something needs to be refined, the people doing the work are part of the conversation.

Volume 01

Volume 01 is the first expression of that approach. A tightly built opening run of footwear and leather goods made without shortcuts and released in small numbers. The beginning of a longer story, one we hope will not just be written by us, but by the people who carry our pieces into their own archives, wearing them long enough to leave a mark.

This is where Archive begins.
