The Chabanel Collection

Chabanel Travel System

Handcrafted in Canada.

Sale price$1,875.00

We built the Chabanel Travel System on the same principles as our footwear: select materials, intentional patterns, and a construction that wears in rather than out. Handcrafted in Canada and made-to-order, these pieces are engineered to handle the physical realities of transit without losing its silhouette or failing at the seams.

We cut the entire travel system from Horween Essex leather, available in Natural and Black. This vegetable-tanned hide lacks heavy surface waxes, giving it a remarkably pliable temper from the first mile.

We lined the main bag compartments with a thick, heavyweight cotton canvas in your choice of Black or Oxblood. Matching elements span the entire release: Swiss-made Riri zippers, solid antiqued brass hardware, and reinforced stress points built to handle the wear of transit.

Preservation

Caring for your luggage will preserve the quality and ensure infinite miles are possible.

Routine: Regularly wipe the hide with a soft cloth to remove dust.

Recovery: Wipe clean of debris using a soft, damp cloth. Air dry away from heat.

Legacy: Regular conditioning ensures the leather ages with intention.

Partnership Credit

Made in Montreal, in partnership with Corinne Bourget.

The collection takes its name from Chabanel Street. Once the working heart of Montreal’s garment industry, it is a neighbourhood built on manufacturing and technical skill. Today, that same district is the production home for this made-to-order collection.

The Weekender Bag

The anchor of the suite. Engineered with a wide-mouth opening for visibility and a reinforced base to maintain its silhouette under load. It features an exterior quick-access pocket specifically gauged to house the Passport Wallet, ensuring your credentials never touch the bottom of your bag.

The Dopp Kit

A structured grooming kit designed to maximize internal volume while minimizing its footprint. It is a structured vessel designed to protect your grooming tools while containing the inevitable spills of transit. Fully lined with heavyweight cotton and finished with a heavy-gauge zipper, it is built to endure the friction of a life on the road.

The Passport Wallet

A slim, four-pocket folio for your most critical documents. Precision-skived for a low-profile fit, it holds a standard international passport and cards without the bulk of a traditional wallet. It is perfectly sized to the Weekender’s external pocket, making security checkpoints a matter of habit, not a hunt.

The Chabanel Collection is made-to-order.

Every piece in the collection is made to order, with a process built around precision and a lead time of approximately 2 months. This approach allows us to focus on build quality, material integrity, and finishing rather than excess inventory.

  1. Material Sourcing: We secure the leather, lining, and hardware needed.
  2. Workshop Production: Your piece enters the workshop, where the leather is cut, assembled, stitched, and finished by hand. This is the most time-intensive part of the process, and the place where the build really takes shape.
  3. Finishing and Inspection: Each piece moves through final finishing and quality control, where the details are checked, the structure is reviewed, and the piece is prepared for shipment.
  4. Fulfillment: Once complete, your piece is packed and dispatched for delivery.
A Note on the Variables

Our pieces are built through focused partnerships and a domestic network of makers. This model allows for extreme precision, but it also means we are beholden to the honesty of the materials and the patience of the artisan.

We do not believe in shortcuts. If a timeline extends, it’s a reflection of our refusal to compromise the structural integrity of your piece. While we’ll prioritize maintaining delivery dates, we’ll remain in close contact with you if any dates are shifted.

Archive is a Canadian leather goods company focused on making fewer, better things. Our boots and leather goods are produced in small runs through a domestic network of makers who bring deep expertise to the craft. The goal isn’t endless newness — it’s pieces that hold up, wear well, and remain worth keeping years down the line.
