The Chabanel Collection

Chabanel Weekender Bag

Handcrafted in Canada.

Sale price$1,500.00

We built the Chabanel Weekender on the exact same principles as our footwear: select materials, intentional patterns, and a construction that wears in rather than out. Handcrafted in Canada and made-to-order, this bag is engineered to handle the physical realities of transit without losing its silhouette or failing at the seams.

We chose Horween Essex leather for the main body, giving the bag a remarkably supple hand-feel and a broken-in experience from the very first mile. Built with an extra-wide mouth opening for complete internal visibility, it turns packing into a straightforward task. The interior is lined with heavyweight cotton canvas and handles the bulk of your journey quietly, leaving plenty of room for a full wardrobe—with space left over to pack your boots.

To keep your tools organized on the move, we integrated an external quick-access pocket, an interior zipped security pocket for smaller valuables, and a dedicated laptop sleeve to keep your devices separated from your gear.

Leather

The Chabanel Collection is cut from Horween Essex, a vegetable-tanned leather selected for its temper and its reaction to use. The surface will enhance with age, the corners will burnish, and the handles will eventually reveal the truth of how often they’ve been held. It’s available in two classic tones, Natural or Black.

Natural: A light-toned, architectural start that deepens into a rich, honeyed patina shaped by sun, salt, and handling.

Black: A deep, matte finish with a quieter evolution. It maintains its presence while subtly recording the history of each destination.

Built for Travel

A functional weekender avoids over-complication. It feels substantial in the hand and maintains its silhouette through years of transit. We have engineered this piece with that specific balance, enough structure to protect your essentials, but enough flexibility to move through the world with ease. It is a bag meant to travel often and return better than when it left.

The proportions are intentional, and this is leather that takes on use honestly. This piece will soften, mark, and deepen with every trip.

The Interior

The interior is pragmatic and restrained, organizing your gear without over-designing the experience. Lined with heavyweight cotton canvas and reinforced at the seams with durable leather trim, the spacious main compartment is built to carry the weight of a three-day haul.

An internal pocket is secured by a heavy-gauge Riri zipper, isolating the essentials that usually disappear—your documents, cables, and notebook. Opposite the pocket, a dedicated sleeve keeps your laptop or tablet secure and separate from the rest of your kit.

The Chabanel Collection is made-to-order.

Every piece in the collection is made to order, with a process built around precision and a lead time of approximately 2 months. This approach allows us to focus on build quality, material integrity, and finishing rather than excess inventory.

  1. Material Sourcing: We secure the leather, lining, and hardware needed.
  2. Workshop Production: Your piece enters the workshop, where the leather is cut, assembled, stitched, and finished by hand. This is the most time-intensive part of the process, and the place where the build really takes shape.
  3. Finishing and Inspection: Each piece moves through final finishing and quality control, where the details are checked, the structure is reviewed, and the piece is prepared for shipment.
  4. Fulfillment: Once complete, your piece is packed and dispatched for delivery.
A Note on the Variables

Our pieces are built through focused partnerships and a domestic network of makers. This model allows for extreme precision, but it also means we are beholden to the honesty of the materials and the patience of the artisan.

We do not believe in shortcuts. If a timeline extends, it’s a reflection of our refusal to compromise the structural integrity of your piece. While we’ll prioritize maintaining delivery dates, we’ll remain in close contact with you if any dates are shifted.

Archive is a Canadian leather goods company focused on making fewer, better things. Our boots and leather goods are produced in small runs through a domestic network of makers who bring deep expertise to the craft. The goal isn’t endless newness — it’s pieces that hold up, wear well, and remain worth keeping years down the line.
