A zip-up ankle boot with a Western influence.

Originally launched as the 1979 Zip-Up Boot in 2018, we return this western-inspired silhouette. The LJL Side Zip Boot maintains the sleek proportions of the original pattern while expanding the choice of leathers, outsoles and finishes.

Strictly made-to-order in our Vancouver workshop, each pair reflects the slow, uncompromising standards of independent Canadian handcraft.

Choose from Horween Dublin or C.F. Stead Waxy Commander leathers, then personalize your pair with a choice of outsole and Riri zipper finish. An optional removable leather harness —available in simple (+$200 CAD) and Western ($250 CAD) styles—shifts the silhouette from understated to more distinctive, while a classic LJL logo embossing provides a subtle finishing detail.

Designed as a boot to be worn rather than admired from a distance, it prioritizes fit, daily function and repairability. Each pair is lasted, hand-finished, and documented in our Vancouver workshop.

Timeline

The footwear in the LJL Collection is made-to-order with a lead time of approximately six months. Our small production team builds each pair to your size and configuration.

Sizing

Available in a comprehensive range of widths to suit different foot profiles. Once your order is placed, we’ll contact you to confirm your sizing and material choices. We’ll send you a home sizing kit to ensure precise measurements. Vancouver customers can also arrange an in-person fitting.
